Today (26 June 2024) at 12:00 Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister of Thailand, and Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan witness the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation between Thailand and Bhutan
by the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand along with the Director of the Special Area Development Administration for Sustainable Tourism (Public Organization) and H.E. Mr. Kinzang Dorji, Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand, concur to promote the potential of culture and natural of these Two Kingdoms as One Destination. Both governments will lead the tourism as a tool to strengthen the relationship between their people.
Tourism situation between Thailand and Bhutan, both DrukAir and Bhutan Airlines operate daily flight from Bangkok to Thimphu, offer 86,400 seat capacity yearly. Bhutanese travel to Thailand approximately 25,000 a year, while Thais travel to Bhutan, averaging 3,500 a year, moreover, 60,000 of quality foreign tourists who visit Thailand before continue their trip to Thimphu is targeted this year.
This cooperation will be discussed in details at the Bay of Bengal Initiative Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Leaders' Summit in Bangkok – Thailand during the mid of September 2024.
